Marc Houle seems to have enjoyed his previous concerts in Barcelona (so have we); he has played repeatedly throughout the last year in many clubs around the city; alongside with him this time there were Heartthrob and Paco Osuna, to complete a night of great minimal techno in Discoteque; a club which personally wouldnt recieve the best critique, as their usual parties include popularity filosofies, and dont really show much of a musical philosophy. To me Seems to be like one of those clubs who look for the crowding of the club with any kind of concert as long as its full, without demonstrating any kind of "love" for a music style or kind of parties.
My personal opinion is that this city has a bit too much of social night life, where in too many clubs the youngsters go out, indiferent to the music that is playing; instead they just follow the ambient, and chat their way through the night trying to find a perfect match to finish it with. The higher areas of this city is plagued with popular clubs, who play the same songs daily looking for the crowds recognition; and it is this recognition of the song with allows them to dance, instead of allowing the flow and groove of the music to move you as the body feels. Gracefully, there are people like Paco Osuna, who in some kind of relation with City Hall Club, breaks the popular outburst of the club with the Club4 nights, with which he usually invites various artists of the dance scenario to present their sets. The Minus crew plays fairly commonly these thursday nights. his relation with the club is to me unknown, but rumors tell me that he is one of the people we have to thank for for these great line-ups in such a centric club.
Leaving aside the high-class social nightlife of the city, this time, the showcase was presented in Discoteque, with a capacity of 2500 people, and probably full to that number of party maniacs bouncing to the beats and bongs of this great night. the dark dark dark ambient took over the room for some grat moments of pure base, to be contrasted with tru-minus entrances purest of one of my favourite record labels. great night, recommend a minus showcase to every techno, minimal, and basically dancelife lover of the world.
